Emeli Sandé Scores 100k Sales Double
Story Highlight
As she claims the UK number one
Emeli Sandé smashed the 100k sales barrier to claim the UK album chart number one on Sunday.
The album, which features huge singles ‘Heaven’, ‘Daddy’ and a new version of ‘Read All About It’, sold a whopping 113,000 copies to become the second fastest selling record of 2012 so far.
In an impressive week for the Scottish songstress, Emeli also broke the 100k landmark with her latest single ‘Next To Me’ which missed out on the top spot to DJ Fresh’s new track ‘Hot Right Now’ featuring Rita Ora.
Elsewhere on the album chart, Lana Del Rey’s ‘Born To Die’ slipped to number two, Adele’s all-conquering ‘21’ climbed to 4, Gotye’s ‘Making Mirrors’ debuted at four while Ed Sheeran’s ‘+’ made up the rest of the top five.
Whitney Houston’s ‘Greatest Hits’ compilation re-entered the chart at number 7 on a week the late singer sold 127,000 singles and over 73,000 albums.
The pop legend’s signature tune – her cover of Dolly Parton’s ‘I Will Always Love You’ – was the highest singles chart entry at 14.
